Lindsey Shores is a fashion stylist who in addition to her personal styling clients has worked with Imagine Dragons, Mindy Gledhill, and Beverly Hills Magazine. We had a chance to ask Lindsey a few questions about herself and her brand. Check out what she had so say below!
How would you describe yourself in 10 words or less?
I'm a passionate mother, wife, and fashion stylist.
Tell us about your brand.
As a personal fashion stylist, I help others express their personalities through style. I love working one-on-one with clients and seeing them start from overwhelmed beginners to experts on wardrobe. My brand is about boosting client self-esteem and confidence through fashion.
What inspired you to start?
I've always loved fashion. When I was a baby, I would have to go to sleep in my crib with my Sunday dress and shoes on. Six years ago I relocated to southern California to work in the fashion industry to gain trade skills and to be part of the unique environment that only Hollywood could offer. During my time there, I was lucky enough to work for one of the top red carpet stylists, Penny Lovell. Since then, I’ve returned to Utah and I am building my business styling for personal clients, actresses, YouTubers, film, television and commercial. It's been a dream come true.
If you have a mission, goal, or vision for your brand, what would it be?
To help others realize their potential through developing a distinct personal style. Everyone's familiar with the saying, "it only matters what's on the inside," but the truth is that we all make judgments based on first impressions. I want to help others optimize the power of those first impressions. It’s very rewarding for me to see my clients increase in confidence and success in their lives as a result of improving their personal style.
Who is your target audience?
I've worked with celebrities and music video wardrobe and costuming, but my main passion is working one-on-one with personal clients, especially women clients. Most of my personal styling clients are women of the ages 25-50. My clients hire me for one-off shopping trips and photo shoots, but I also have a few clients who subscribe to monthly on-call styling services.
What’s the biggest challenge and biggest success that you’ve experienced so far with your brand?
My biggest challenge in my career has been from moving from California to Utah. Californians are more familiar than Utahans with personal styling. Utahans typically don't realize the benefit of hiring a stylist, so building a consistent client base is definitely a struggle. My biggest success so far is being a part of the exciting transformations that my styling clients experience. Increased self-confidence that comes from excellent personal style has helped clients see success in their professional and personal lives. When clients tell me about the positive impact that my styling work for them has had on their lives, I feel so happy.
What do you hope to learn at the Braid Workshops?
I hope to gain more insight about Utah consumers and culture. There’s so much to learn about from others in the community. I love learning about how other people have worked to reach their dreams.
Who do you hope to meet at the Braid Workshops?
I love meeting new and old friends at events. It's thrilling to find someone new that I have things in common with or can find a collaboration that makes for a win-win. I also love running into others that I've met or worked with before and rekindling that friendship.
